Welcome to the Media Center of Somerset Miramar Charter School
Students in grades K-1st will be able to select from a wide variety of easy readers and keep the book for a week. After that time they will return the book and then select a new book for their reading enjoyment. Grades 2-5th grade students will be able to check out 2 books. They will be able to come to the library every week to check out books. Middle School Library is dependent on their reading teacher. They will come to the library as often as they need and are allowed to by their teacher(s).
Ideas to do with your family. **Go to your local library and get your own library card **Choose a book to read together and/or allow your child to pick out a book of their choice to read in a special place. ** Bookstores and libraries often have free story times. take your child to hear a story being read **Read together at least 20 mins a day with your child. Websites:
Other Ideas: **Read every chance you get.. (road signs, restaurant signs, menus, back of food packages, advertisements, grocery bills, magazines, newspapers, comics, just READ) **Read in front of your child so that they see its fun to read. **Volunteer to bring in your child's favorite book to read to his or her class. **Join a book club or create your own family book club. One family member can choose a book and then talk about it as a family.
Need Volunteer Hours? *Help out by returning books to the shelves *Sign up to come and read books to classes in the library * Need parents to create A.R.(Accelerated Reader) lists.
