February 10, 2012

Dear 5th Grade Parents/Guardians:

Saint Valentine’s Day, commonly shortened to Valentine’s Day, is a day set aside to honor one or more early Christian martys named Saint Valentine; this year we celebrate Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, February 14, 2012.

In the rich tradition of expressing love and appreciation, the fifth grade class will celebrate Valentine’s Day with a classroom party, beginning at 1:00 pm. The party will begin with a Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt, followed by Freeze Tag, Ice Cream Sundaes and Valentine’s Cupcakes.  We are asking each child to bring in a Valentine’s treat (Valentine’s cards, pencils, stickers, and candy) to be shared with their classmates. There are 30 children in the class, so please make sure your child brings enough treats to share.

We need at least 10 parent/guardian volunteers to assist us with the party, especially the Scavenger Hunt. If you can volunteer, please plan to arrive at 12:30 pm and email Tomeka Bumbry (Wayne’s Mom) at tbumbry@aol.com to make sure we have enough volunteers.

We apologize for this short notification; hope you can volunteer!

Happy Valentine’s Day,
Chandra, Leniece, Dominique and Tomeka
