May 21-25

The school year is winding down quickly. We continue to work on our lessons and activities. In reading this week we will focus on drawing conclusions, suffixes -ent, -ant, -able and -ible.  Dictionary skills and idioms will be reviewed also.  The vocab. for the  story are:  1.cache 2.fashion 3. harsh 4.harvesting 5.migration6.storehouse 7.survival 8.talons 9.aspen 10.bulbs.  We will have the test on Thursday.

We will have Field Day on Tuesday. Each student has a designated team color.  A Saint Bernadette gym shirt may be worn if you do not have the color needed.  Wednesday is a half-day and a cookie sale.  Remember your quarters.  We will see a play put on by the drama club on Thursday.

Spelling-The test will be Friday and the words are as follows: 1.fashionable 2.comfortable 3.different 4.suitable 5.merchant 6.profitable 7.possible 8.resident 10.terrible 11.absent 12.vacant 13.servant 14.valuable 15.accident 16.horrible 17.honorable 18.reasonable 19.remarkable 20.laughable

English-The students have been working on a board game. The questions from the game are gathered from the grammar units. The games have been very creative. We will exchange and play to review concepts learned throughout the year.We are writing our final story and will revise this week.

We have finished Literature Circles for the year. The students answered some end of the year questions and it appears that they really enjoyed this type of book discussion and presentation.
