Happy Happenings

We would like to welcome Mrs. Michelle Sienerth as our new assistant teacher to our class! The children have really taken to her. They enjoy working with her. It is wonderful to see!

We have the most compassionate class! The class really used their hearts and dug deep into their own pockets to raise money for our school food fund drive. We raised nearly $40 our class alone. Mrs. Tatman announced that the school raised nearly $500 for needs that will extend into the summer.  The children are very proud of themselves. Just ask them... they are modest and may not tell you...

THEY SHOW GRRREAT HEART!!!

Miss Myers' class has gone green and no not because we just passed St. Patrick's Day. We are learners about the environment and hopefully gain enough knowledge to become leaders of the environment. The children plan to share what they know.

Do you remember "Hot Potato" when you were younger?

Our class has been hopping from color behavior potato to another.  We use the basic eight colors. It enables the students to regain the more desirable color, feeling good that they changed the less desirable behavior.  The potatoes are linked to points that they keep up with to redeem on Fun Friday.  They have been excited for the individual ownership and are becoming so proud of themselves. Just ask. Fridays are buzzin'...

 open book               Reading Logs

Your child has been bringing home a reading log.  Your child should read for ten minutes in the evening.  He / She may choose to bring a book from school or read one from home. Parents need to document in the reading log, the date and title of the book, then sign and return each morning.

Some of the students have enjoyed their books so much that they have shared a written response with me.  I love that families are going the extra mile!  It creates love of learning literature.  I would encourage the rest of the families to join in the project.  It has become like a little book club.  The children share their book by writing a bit about it.  They have been exciting others to read the next book.  It has been so fun to see the enthusiasm!
