I have listed skills that will be practiced in our current unit of study. Please reinforce these skills with your child.

Math homework will be assigned on Monday thru Thursday of each week.

During the next six weeks students will practice skills in chapters 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. These skills focus on multiplication and division.

By the conclusion of this unit, students should be able to demonstrate the following:

1)identify and use the multiplication properties;solve problems using these properties 

2)understand the relationship between multiplication and division

3)develop strategies for multiplying 2 and 3 digit numbers by a one and two digit numbers

4)carry out simple division problems; those that can be solved by using basic multiplication facts

5)understand patterns and relationships of when you divide both the dividend and divisor by the same number the quotient is unchanged

6)use paper and pencil algorithms for multiplication and division

7)estimate and calculate using multiplication and division

8) problem solve using multiplication and division

Problem solving will be a focus throughout the school year.



Please have your child practice the multiplication facts. It is imperative students know the basic mulitplication facts in order to be successful with fourth grade math skills.
