Psychology, Sociology
Bienvenue!!!
Welcome!
On this website, you will find a list of common questions that my students and my students' parents often have. Read through them to find out more about the French program at OGHS, as well as my Psychology and Sociology classes. If you have further questions, feel free to contact me.
What do I need to bring to Mrs. Kelly's class?
A 3-ring binder or folder for all notes, handouts, and assignments
A spiral notebook or folder for bellwork
Pencils or Pens (No purple pens, please; I grade in purple.)
French students ONLY - 3*5 index cards
I have a question or concern regarding my student's progress in your class. What should I do?
Feel free to contact me by email using the link above. You can also call the school and leave a message. I will return your call as quickly as possible. I want to be available to you. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help your child succeed.
I do not know a lick of French. . .
I do not know a thing about Psychology or Sociology. . .
How can I possibly help my child with their work?
Encourage your child to review their notes for about ten minutes each night. Let them pronounce the French words for you. Let them teach you a few words and what they mean.
Or, if your child is taking my psychology or sociology class, ask them to show you their notes. Ask them about key words and topics. If they can explain to you what we are learning in class, then they are being successful.
Research shows that teaching words and concepts to others is a great way to learn.
Most importantly, for my classes and for all classes, one of the best things you can do to help your child is to help them stay organized!!! Ask them to show you their notes for the day. If they cannot find their notes, they need to be more organized. Make sure that they have a seperate folder for each subject. If they have one large binder, notes should be divided into different subject areas using dividers. Make sure that they have a bag or specific place to put writing utensils. Organization is a major part of success in the high school environment.
