For the week of Feb. 1 - 5, 2010 Vocabulary for 1st block: L17 - ambitious, envy, exclaim, heir, honorable, oath, portrait, reign, wardrobe, yacht 2nd/3rd block Vocabulary: calculate, quagmire, laconic, underlying, verdant (we are going to be learning the Word of the Day list) HW: Monday - 1st block: make a crossword puzzle using your vocab words 2nd/3rd block: no homework tonight Tuesday - 1st block: write sentences using your vocab making each sentence a compound-complex sentence Wednesday - 1st block: take the standards that were given to you and write what we have done in class to cover that item. 2nd/3rd block: compound-complex sentences with vocab words Thursday - ALL classes: study for vocab test; draw a picture of your words; have all daily warm ups ready to turn in **************************************************** For the week of January 25 - 29, 2010
2nd/3rd block - dramatic (striking), marvel (something that is wonderful), irregular (not following established rule or method), satisfied (to fill the needs of), leisure (free and unoccupied time) Highlights of week: We will be reviewing this week. Tuesday is our day in the computer lab. Each student should have their poems ready to type up (I have those that were turned in on time) and we will also take an OAS test. Come prepared. This is the only day that we have the computers for awhile. My goal is to not have everything printed right now, so your work will be placed in my drop box. Monday's HW: ALL - write a story using your vocab words. It should be one page long and make sense. Make sure your poems are complete and bring them to class Tuesday. Tuesday's HW: ALL - WOD Review (crossword puzzle). While we are reviewing for our Word of the Day test on Thursday, let me remind you that I will ask for your WOD list I gave you with a sentence for each one. The WOD Study Guide will also be turned in on Thursday, as well. Wednesday's HW: NONE Thursday's HW: Study for Vocab test. You also need to have your warm ups ready to turn in. Easy 100!! **Progress reports go out next week (time is flying by)! Any work that you are missing, please, please make arrangements with me to get the tests that you need to do. The homework is pretty much self-explanatory, so work on those without me having to ask for it. BE RESPONSIBLE!! ************************************** For the week of January 19 - 22, 2010 Vocabulary words for 1st block: abundant, barrier, descriptive, desirable, establish, flourish, possess, prehistoric, survey, terrain 2nd/3rd blocks: abundant (plentiful), establish (to set up); flourish (to succeed), survey (to inspect in detail), descriptive (presented in detail) HW: Due Wednesday - Story Pyramids (information given out early last week) Poems need to be completed and turned in on Friday of this week. We will go to the computer lab and type them up (Do not type them at home then turn them in. We will put them in my drop box and I will print them at the school) Tuesday: 1st block - complete p. 61-62 in Vocab book. Also, write sentences with the words. **Check the 'downloads' a the bottom of the page if you are missing your warm ups for the week or you need a poetry sheet. I am not making extra copies. *********************************************** For the week of January 11-15, 2010 Vocabulary words for 1st block: realm, betray, architects, sacrifice, districts, desperate, victims, glimpse, victorious, eternal Vocabulary words for 2nd/3rd block: betray, architects, sacrifice, victims, eternal Homework: * Monday - 1st block: complete pgs. 57-58 Vocabulary book *Tuesday - All classes: get Poetry quiz signed and have it corrected; divide each of your vocabulary words into syllables *Wednesday - no homework *Thursday - study for Vocabulary test & have warm ups ready to turn in; write your vocabulary words in exclamatory sentences (!) . **Team 601 has an altered discipline plan. Information was sent home with each student on Wednesday. For the week of January 5-8, 2010.
Vocabulary words for 1st block: quarantined, interrupt, scheme, fragrant, pleaded, management, conduct, ignited, consent, ceremony WOD LIST #4: Everyone was given the current word of the day list. Please go over them daily so that you will be ready for the test in a couple of weeks. We will discuss the words in class, as usual. HOMEWORK THIS WEEK: TUESDAY: 1st block - complete pages in vocab book (p. 53-54) 2nd/3rd block - finish the word maps that we started in class for each of your vocabulary words WEDNESDAY: ALL CLASSES - write a story using your vocabulary words (1 page minimum) Don't forget that you have to memorize a poem from the literature book (look at your notes) by Monday. **REPORT CARDS SHOULD BE RETURNED TO YOUR HOMEROOM TEACHER TOMORROW, FRIDAY AT THE LATEST. I WILL GIVE MY HOMEROOM A COPY OF THEIR REPORT CARD WHEN I RECEIVE THE ORIGINAL.
