HOMEWORK:

Any homework will be written in take home folders on the day it is assigned

October Newsletter 2009

Dear parents and students,

Our classroom theme for the year is teamwork. The students have been working hard to earn a class reward. The first reward the students chose is popcorn and a movie. I will send a note home in take home folders letting you know of this accomplishment.

Students have taken all homework assignments very seriously. All work was handed in on time during the month of September...great job!

Students have adapted well to a locker routine and learning combinations.

FYI and EVENTS:

Our current literacy unit is Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, a Newbery Honor award winner. Students are listening to the story on CD and learning new vocabulary. If you get a chance, discuss the story with your child. A study guide can be found at the following web site: http://thebestnotes.com/booknotes/Hatchet_Paulsen/Hatchet_Study_Guide01.html  A field trip (a culminating activity related to the story) is in the planning stage, hopefully for mid October.  Watch for permission slips to come home soon.
