KEEPING A FOLDER/NOTEBOOK: Every student will be required to keep a folder of all MATH papers. Each folder will have a Table of Contents with the title of each paper and the grade, if applicable. A folder grade may be given periodically during the 6 weeks. Students should keep up with their folders at all times and bring them to class daily. This is your responsibility. Keep ALL papers for the entire Semester. They will be needed for the Semester Review. BONUS/EXTRA CREDIT: Opportunities throughout the year will be made available for extra credit. I do not give extra credit during the year to make-up late or missing work. TUTORING: TBA QUIZZES/TESTS: Students will have quizzes periodically throughout the six weeks. Students will be given 3 to 5 days notice for major exams. If absent on the day of a test or quiz, students will be responsible for checking the make-up work basket and asking me for the missed test or quiz upon their return to class. There is to be absolutely no talking during quizzes or tests. If you are seen talking or cheating, your quiz/test will be taken up and receive a "0" as the grade and an office referral. (see specific consequences on last page.). Students will not be able to make-up some pop quizzes. I will insert either ABS or NG as the grade. This will not help nor hurt the average. MAKE-UP WORK: THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY! 1. You will have 1 day for each day missed. 2. Check the make-up planner and basket to get your make-up assignments and worksheets. 3. Copy all notes from a fellow student and turn in your make-up work into the class tray within the allotted time. (See Student Code of Conduct) LATE WORK: 1st Semester: Homework or classwork assignments that aren't turned in on time will lose 30 points for the first day that the assignment is due, 50 points the second day and a 0 the third day. 2nd Semester: Homework or class assignments that aren't turned in on time will lose 50 points for the first day that the assignment is due and will receive a "0" on the second day. All assignments are to be completed in order to stay caught up in materials presented. No excuses will be accepted unless I have a WRITTEN notice from a parent or guardian informing me of some unforeseen circumstances. Students may also receive D-hall or stay before or after school until the late work is completed. FAILING PAPERS: Most failing papers (all CLASSWORK, HOMEWORK, and some QUIZZES AND TESTS) will be sent home for the student to correct, have a parent/guardian sign, and return the following day to receive a new grade up to a 70. Any failing papers not turned in to me CORRECTED (with ALL work shown and in correct format) AND SIGNED BY A PARENT the following day will be recorded in the gradebook as is. Note: In order to correct a paper for a higher grade, at least 50% of the assignment must be completed. Students may have to RETAKE tests and quizzes for grades to be raised up to a 70. CHEATING: Academic cheating will NOT be tolerated and will result in a ZERO on the assignment. This includes but is not limited to the following: 1. Writing answers from another student's paper. 2. Letting someone else copy your paper. 3. Changing answers while we grade. 4. Using any cheat notes on a test. 5. Intentionally grading papers wrong to make a better grade.
