Mustang Regiment:We have a date set for our group picture for marching band. This picture will be the one that is on the wall of the band room with your individual picture as well as the group picture. The date that the photographer has suggested is Thursday, December 8th. We will start with a group picture in the stadium and move to the band room for individual pictures. If you are involved in a sport that practices after school, we would take your individual picture first so you could immediately change out of your uniform and go to practice. The group picture will start as close to 2:45pm as possible. Please come to the band room ASAP after school on Thursday, Dec. 8th to change into your uniform (no hats). Please make arrangements to be present for the picture as you have all worked very hard this season and I want you to be recognized as part of the 2011 marching band for years to come. If you are UNABLE to make the picture time on Thursday, Dec 8th with the group picture at 2:45pm and individual shortly after, please e-mail Ms. Davis ASAP at davisel@rss.k12.nc.us. Recently, I have noticed an increasing number of students in our instrumental music program being irresponsible with the care of their instruments. Instruments have been dropped, damaged, and abused to the point of not being able to play. I've recently informed students that if they drop, are careless with, or severely damage their instrument, the will be required to put the instrument away immediately and will not be able to play it at school until I have had a conversation with their parents about how we can more responsibly care for these expensive investments that either you or the school has purchased so our students can be successful. I hope this new policy will teach each student responsibility and stress the importance of being extremely cautious with their instruments and taking care of them. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding instrument care (davisel@rss.k12.nc.us). Let's work together to protect your expensive investment as well as the sound and progress of our band and your child as an individual musician. -Emily Davis- |
