*AP US History
Advanced Placement US History attempts to develop higher critical thinking skills by emphasing analysis and evaluation. To achieve this goal, students will be asked to read and interpret primary sources and various scholarly writings, analyze charts, graphs and maps and answer document based questions. The class covers American History from exploration to the present. The textbook, American Padgeant is written for advanced students.
This course is demanding and difficult for most high school students. It requires a serious effort and is designed for students who are mature, who want and expect a challenge and who have good grades and a strong background in Social Studies and English. All students must take the AP Exam which is given in May.

*Honors US History
The Honors program in US History is designed to provide students with analytical skills and factual knowledge necessary to deal critically with the problems and materials of US History. The EOC will be given in January and will be the final exam for this class.
Honors US History is more demanding than the regular US History class. Students will learn to read critically, evaluate and interpret primary and secondary source material and present their findings in a clear and persuasive essay format. This course covers US History from 1789 to the present.
