Week of May 14, 2012
Field Day: Friday, May 18 from 8:15 to 12:30pm. This is a 12:30 dismissal day! Mrs. Hernandez could use all parents to help out as Team Leaders, Game Coordinators, help with lunch, and anything else that is needed for the day. It is a great day of fun and excitement for the children and we look forward to a SUNNY day! If you would like to help out, please contact Mrs. Hernandex directly at shernandez@stmaryum.org **Please make sure your child wears his/her tie-dye t-shirt and gym uniform short or sweatpants. Please do not wear any shorts or shirts other than the uniform. Lunch will be hot dogs and chips for all students and parents. Lunch will be rotated around your child's team schedule which we will receive on the morning of field day. Wax Museum: Monday, May 21 from 10-11am. I have made a schedule so that all students in the school will get a chance to see the Wax Museum. Parents will get their own private viewing from 10-10:15. The students will come in with their classrooms between 10:15 and 11:00 and be alloted 10 minutes to view the Wax Figures. It does get noisy since we are all in the room together. I will be giving each classroom a welcome speech outside the multi purpose room and giving them directions on how to behave and how to listen to the Wax Figures. Parents can stay in the Wax Museum for the entire hour. This also gives parents a chance to see their other children and visit the Museum with them. Pictures are definitely allowed, and so is vidoe taping if you choose. Immediatly following the Wax Museum, 3rd graders and family members will return to our classroom for a small reception. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to contribute food for our reception. If you have not yet signed up to bring something in, please do not hesitate to bring something! During the reception, I will be video taping each individual child making their speech in the 2nd grade classroom (as they will be at lunch). This will also be a chance for parents to take more pictures! If you have any questions pertaining to your child's outfit and/or props for the Wax Museum, please do not hesitate to ask. Anything goes, so be creative!!! THe children have told me every day that they are working hard to memorize their speeches. If you are wondering how the students will be graded on thei assignment, please click on the "Wax Museum Grading Rubric" at te bottom of this page under "Downloads". |
