FROM THE CHORUS TEACHER, MR. JONES

          Next week, I will begin to select students for the cast of our holiday musical comedy, which is called “A Storybook Christmas”.  Students who wish to try out should get this note signed and returned to me at school.  I must try out the kids after school, and for most families this means making special arrangements for transportation.   I am scheduling two sessions for this purpose, Tuesday,  September 22, 2009 and Tuesday, September  29, 2009.  If there are scheduling conflicts with student council or academic teams (or anything else), I will make accommodations.  This is so all interested chorus members have a chance to join the cast.

          We will be in the music room (Room 130) starting at 3:15 PM and continue until 4:15 PM.  Students who wish to take the roles that have solo singing in the script will need to be prepared to sing individually at this time.  This process may take a few weeks.  I will be very mindful of the students’ feelings, and will encourage multiple tries at this audition.  When this is complete, I will announce the results at school, and on my webpage at schoolnotes.com.

Important dates for our chorus and cast members:  December 10, 2010 is our performance date.  It will be in the Shaw High School Auditorium at 7:00 PM.  Singers arrive at 6:45 PM.  Cast members arrive at 6:30 PM.

We have confirmed our date to sing the National Anthem for the Cottonmouths’ game on February 4^th, 2010.  Save this date.  We will post more info later about discount tickets and free tickets, etc.
