Dear Parents and Students of Grades 6, 7 & 8,

The only way to earn ‘extra credit’ in my classes is to do corrections to tests and quizzes.  With the exception of Math Flashbacks, doing corrections is  not required.  The opportunity to do corrections  is offered for the purpose of giving the students a tool to help them to do their best in their studies.

Any time a test or quiz is taken, graded and returned to the student by me, he/she can earn points  by doing the following:

1.    Using loose leaf paper, copy the questions/problems that were missed.  Do not re-write the incorrect answers.

2.    Identify the reason an error was made (i.e. misread the problem, copied the wrong information, just did not know the information, miscalculated) as best as you can.

3.    Show the correct answer using the information to make a factual statement incorporating the question and the correct answer.  State where in your book, notes (date), etc. the correct  information came from.  If  it is a math problem ALL steps necessary to solve the problem must be shown and justified.

4.    Attach the loose leaf to the original test paper.

5.    Have a parent sign the graded test paper as well as the corrections and turn it in for credit no later than the Monday following the return of the graded paper. This allows you time over the week end to get corrections done.

Failure to follow these guidelines will limit points earned.  No points will be earned without parent signature.

Upon review, I will indicate the amount of credit that was earned by the student's effort.

Please be aware that students are quizzed, tested, or given a graded assignment at least once every two weeks in science and weekly in math. Dates for these tests and quizzes will be posted on schoolnotes.com.  Ask to see these papers.  All students are encouraged to have graded papers signed by their parents, regardless of the score that was earned.  I reward one point for these signatures.

EVERY POINT EARNED IS LIKE MONEY IN THE BANK....
