6th Grade Math Policies and Procedures

Class Materials:

Come to class everyday with:

  • Two or more pencils with erasers
  • Pen or thin marker
  • Math binder and book
  • Completed homework
  • Assignment book

Grading:

Grades are given for:

  • Homework
  • Quizzes
  • Mathematical Reflections
  • Unit Tests
  • Projects
  • Participation
  • Notebooks
  • Portfolios

Homework:

Homework will be checked on a daily basis and will be scored using the following scoring rubric:

5  Above and beyond expectations

4   Everything attempted; most work done correctly

3 Most work attempted; some done wrong or incomplete

2  Some work done; some wrong or incomplete

1  Not much work; most wrong or incomplete

0  No Work

You are responsible for all of the homework.  If you do not understand a problem, it should not be left blank.  Instead, you should write down a specific question about the problem that you will ask in class.

Notebooks:

Notebooks will be checked at unannounced times for completeness and organization and grades will be given.  After you complete a unit of study, clean out all sections of the notebook except “Vocabulary” sections.

We will be building portfolios at the end of each unit so it is essential you keep an organized notebook.
