 Language Arts Expectations/ Standards

The following topics are scheduled to be covered in the following weeks, according to the Archdiocese of Washington:

Drawing conclusions based on given information

Summarizing information in a story

Determining main idea

Using context clues to define a word


Please make sure all materials are brought to class everyday: InterActive Reader, Vocabulary Workshop workbook, Reading notebook, loose leaf paper, one folder, 3 blue or black pens, red pen, and homework/ assignment book.  White out is not permitted.


Homework for the week of: January 10 (Christmas Break assignments are listed below)

NOTE:  Homework is always subject to change, due to the varying progress of the class.  Please check your student's assignment book every night.

 

6th Grade:

Monday: none

Tuesday: Begin Vocab Unit 8 (Test January 20); Summarize the second paragraph of page 197 in three sentences.  Use your own words (notebook)

Wednesday:  none

Thursday:  Finish answering questions in notebook

7th Grade:

Monday:  Answer Pause and Reflect questions on pages 117 and 119; complete Mark it Up on page 118

Tuesday: none

Wednesday: Study for Vocabulary Test- test will cover definitions, part(s) of speech, and synonyms

Thursday: None; Unit 8 Vocabulary Test

8th Grade:

Monday: none; Handwriting assignment due

Tuesday: Begin Vocab Unit 8 (Test January 20); Finish page 296

Wednesday:  Finish worksheet

Thursday: none (possible assessment may be due Tuesday)

Friday: No class (no school)
