Study guides for end of the year testing were sent home on Monday, May 21st. with your child.  Please keep these in a safe place to use to study for tests.

Please do not allow yourself or your child to become stressed over these tests.  We are confident that all first grade children have worked extremely hard over the course of this year and will succeed!

Please remember to send your child to school with 2 sharpened pencils and a book(s) to read for independent reading.

Welcome to our new student, Elise Bouvier, who started at OLMC on Wednesday, April 25th.

High frequency and robust vocabulary (Lessons 25-30) was sent  home on Monday, April 16th.  Please keep this in a folder to use for practice at home.

The children should be reading 15 minutes everyday for our "Be a Phanatic About Reading Program."  They should be recording this time on their reading logs that were sent home in September.  These logs will be collected later on in the school year.

Reminder:  Please make sure to check your child's homework for accuracy and sign page.  Phonics pages should be reviewed at night.  Both Phonics book and copybook should be signed everyday.

The third "one hundred word list" was sent home on Tuesday, March 13, 2012.  The children should practice these words during Trimester 3.  They will have an oral test - June 1st.

Please make sure to send in a written note if your child is going to change his/her mode of transportation.  This is necessary so I am clear as to where to send your child at the end of the day.

A letter was sent home on Monday, October 17th with information about our reading website.  It has your child's username and password for using thinkcentral.com, the website for our reading series, Storytown.  This website can be used at home for reinforcing reading skills that have been taught in class.  Directions for logging on are included in the letter. Once you have scrolled down to "available resources," click on, for example, "Student Edition" or the other resources.  We are working on Lesson 6 this week.  I hope you have fun exploring "Storytown."

Please sign effort/study skills chart every Friday.

Spelling List - Every Monday the children will copy the new list of Spelling words in their Spelling copybook. They will use these to follow the Spelling Homework schedule that is on Schoolnotes.

Spelling homework -  Students should be reviewing lessons 19-30 for the end of the year test on June 5th.

Reminders - Books covered in clear contact paper-snack for morning break-copybook, math homework book and Phonics book signed everynight-notes for changes in dismissal-lunch order (if buying lunch).

Reminder - Please cover all books, folders and copybooks with clear contact paper.  If you cannot cover them immediately, please make sure that your child brings his/her books to school everyday.

If your child wants to buy lunch, please send a note telling what he/she is ordering for that day.  Your child should have a snack for morning break everyday.

A schedule for first grade's specials went home.  When the children have Phyical Education they are to wear their gym uniforms to school that day.

Math -  Introduction to Chapter 8 - Money and Time.  We will be skipping pages in this chapter.  Homework - no homework.   Please sign homework book every night.  I always stamp the page/pages that they are to do for homework.
