WEEKLY PLANS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO THE WAY STUDENTS WORK AND THE TIME THEY TAKE TO COMPLETE ASSIGNMENTS. ***ALL 3RD BLOCK STUDENTS WILL BE WORKING ON AN EXPERIMENTAL SCIENCE PROJECT THAT WILL BE DUE IN DECEMBER. I WILL POST DEADLINES AS THEY APPLY. PLEASE SEE YOUR CHILD FOR THE PAPERWORK WHICH EXPLAINS THIS PROCESS. I WILL ALSO BE GIVING AT LEAST ONE DAY A WEEK IN CLASS FOR QUESTIONS, WORKING ON THE PROJECTS, RESEARCH, ETC. ANY STUDENTS FROM ANY OTHER CLASS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN THIS PROCESS IF THEY WILL NOTIFY ME.
Lesson Plans for Lynn Robertson week of 11-16-09
GPS: S7L3. Students will recognize how biological traits are passed on to successive generations. a. Explain the role of genes and chromosomes in the process of inheriting a specific trait.
MONDAY: 1. Review notes on Sex Chromosomes (finish in 3rd and 4th). Show karyotypes. 2. Complete Karyotype activity in 1st and 5th. 3. Students will complete Friday’s work. HW – Review. 3rd block should be working on their science fair projects. Experimentation should be almost complete.
TUESDAY: 1. Complete Karyotype activity on the computer. 2. Give notes on Meiosis. Complete Meiosis/Mitosis comparison chart. 3. Go over work from Friday. HW – Review. 3rd block should be working on their science fair projects. Experimentation should be almost complete.
WEDNESDAY: 1. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the meiosis steps by completing a cut/paste activity to put the phases in order. HW – Review. 3rd block should be working on their science fair projects. Experimentation should be almost complete.
THURSDAY: 1. Complete DNA connection activity as a way to review the DNA codes. 2. Give notes/watch video clip of RNA transcription. HW – Review. 3rd block should be working on their science fair projects. Experimentation should be almost complete.
FRIDAY: 1. Complete RNA transcription activity on computer. 2. Complete Snork activity as a way to review RNA transcription. HW –none. 3rd block should be working on their science fair projects. Experimentation should be almost complete. |
