5th GRADE ART NEWS UPDATE: 5/24/12 - Due to DCAS testing, I allowed students extra time to complete their weaving, (5/14 & 5/17). This week we began our last unit on color & looked at some work of Early American Painters. Today students were supposed to get study guide #4, however, 1/2 of my classes are testing again due to power outage yesterday. Final art quiz will be postponed to Monday, 6/3. Sketchbooks will be collected for grading on Friday, 6/1. Have a great weekend everyone!

5th GRADE ART NEWS UPDATE: 5/9/12 - Tomorrow students will be in DCAS testing. Friday, they'll have a substitute, but will still be able to work on their weaving project. Have a wonderful weekend!

5th GRADE ART NEWS UPDATE: 5/4/12 - Students took Quiz #3 on Monday and prepared their looms for weaving. They are now weaving their piece. Next week we'll continue. 7th GRADE ART NEWS UPDATE: 5/24/12 - The O'Keeffe projects are on display, and they look awesome! This week students have begun their final unit on Realism and illustration. We're learning about American Realists, Hopper, Homer and the Wyeth family. Students have been given a choice to either paint a landscape or illustrate a favorite story, poem or song. Study guides were given yesterday. Quiz #4 will be on 5/30. Have a terrific weekend everyone!

7th GRADE ART NEWS UPDATE: 5/9/12 - I Made a change in lesson. We've started a lesson in abstract/realism and famous American female artist Georgia O'Keeffe. Students have begun a new project abstracting a natural object. Have a great weekend!

Next week we'll begin a new unit, which will include the works of the Wyeth family, their illustrations, realist style and figure drawing.
