Welcome back!

School is in full swing and it has been a great start to the 2008-09 school year.

I would like to share some information with you:

1.       There have been a number of uniform changes for this year and I want to review them.

a.       Only solid white short or long sleeved shirts can be worn under the uniform shirt. The undershirts must be tucked into the students pants so that they do not hang below their school uniform.

b.      Sweatshirts can be either solid navy blue with no logos or writing or a navy blue school sweatshirt. The sweatshirts may have hoods and/or may zip up the front.

c.       During the colder months, students can wear solid navy blue sweaters. They can be either pullovers or button up. Again they cannot have a logo or writing on them.

2.     We are strictly enforcing the dress code.

d.      For the ladies, earrings can be no longer than ¾ of an inch in length or width and multiple necklaces and bracelets are not acceptable. They are a distraction to instruction.

e.       For the gentlemen, their pants must be secured at the waist and cannot be oversized. This is for safety purposes and will be enforced.

f.        Hair color for all students must be of a natural shade and color.

g.       Boys  hair must be above their eyebrows in the front and  to the bottom of the collar in the back. No forms of writing, Mohawks, or designs are allowed.

We want you to be aware of the changes so that you can help us enforce the codes, and help your child avoid any consequences due to uniform or dress code violations.

Both Mr. Bennett and I want to encourage all of our parents to attend Clearwood’s Open House on Monday, August 25, 2008. The PTSA will be holding a general meeting at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria. They will also have drinks and pizza for sale in case you don’t have time to eat before the Open House.

Why attend the Open House?

1.       To meet your child’s teachers and learn about his/her expectations for your child’s academic growth.

2.       To learn about programs that will help your child advance both academically and socially.

3.       To have a better understanding of our school vision and assist us in creating a school where all students are successful.

I know that there is a great deal of information listed here, so I ask you to refer to it when issues arise. Please feel free to contact me by email or by school phone if I can do anything to help you or your child.
