April 5, 2010 - Students need to ensure their group has completed and handed in the write up/booklets for the bridge building project.

Feb 17, 10 - We're well underway in our forces and structures unit.  Students have been conducting various experimence to learn the intricacies of structures and the forces at play on them.  We are beginning our construction portion of the unit and will be building popsicle stick bridges.  Students are being provided with 125 popsicle sticks per group and the groups are being asked to provide 175 sticks of their own, students set the max at 250 per group.  Thats about 50 sticks per student.  Please get these from dollorama or something similar as they are very cheap there.  If there is a problem with obtaining popsicle sticks, please come and see me asap so that we can figure out a solution.  Please bring any white glue you may have as well.  Building time will be given at the end of each class with a projected end date of Feb 25.  The demonstrations and possible destruction of the bridges will commence on March 2.

Jan 29, 10 - Look forward to exploring the various forces at work on structures in the coming week.  My apologies if their was any confusion over any recent assignments.  Please come and see me for any clarification.

Jan 15, 10 - Its hard to believe that two weeks have already passed by since the winter break.  In science, we are now looking at forces and structures.  We've explored natural and fabricated structures and even had a chance to build the tallest freestanding spagetti structure, using only stagetti and marshmellows.  Next we will look at center of gravity and stability.

Dec 09, 09 - Think about ecosystems in danger and decide on which one you would like to research.  We are watching An Inconvenient Truth and will be researching and creating a plan to protect an endangered habitat.  the end product will be a brochure detailing how its endangered and the plan created to protect it.

Dec 07, 09 - Term 1 is now done and Term 2 is underway.  The sheet "La biomagnification" is due next class, Wednesday 09, 09.  Think back to the great conversation we had in class for some ideas.

November 27, 09 - Food web posters should now be handed in.  Please insure that you have complete the research handout that accompagnied it as well.  Quiz is Wednesday December 2. Make use of review questions given out in class.  Any other questions, please come see me.

November 25, 09 - Come see if you have any missing homework.  All assignments for Term 1 must be handed in by 3:30 Wednesday December 2, 09.

Novmber 24, 09 - Science quiz on ecoystemes will be held on December 2, 09.  Review info to follow.

November 18, 09 - Students are working on a group project dealing with Food webs and Pyramids.  Assignment will be due no later than November 27, 09.  Vocabulary sheet handed out at the beginning of the school year will be due December 1, 09.

November 03, 09 - Sorry for the lack of updates.  The first science projects is over and the marks have been handed back.  Students had some very interesting resultes.  I've handed out small packages to those who had incomplete work.  Please insure your children have handed in all their assignements.  This week we will be having our first lab on microscopes.  Students will be learning how to work with microscopes before finially examining pond water under the microscope.

October 16, 09 - This week, we had our first quiz.  After much inclass review, students completed a quiz on interactions with ecosystems.  The ecosystem projects are beginning to come to a close, only a few more days.  Next week we will be continuing with adaptations.

Sept 30, 09 - Ecosystem projects have begun rolling into the classroom.  Please ensure that you have your ecosystem in the classroom by this week.  We only have a limited time of good sun left and also only a limited time of class' to observe them.

Sept 25, 09 - This week, students were given their first science experiment called, "Votre propre Ecosystem", create your own ecosystem.  Students are working in groups of 2 or 3 and need to create a ecosystem of their choice and observe it over a period of two weeks, around 8 classes.  The ecosystems need to be created at home and brought in for Monday to begin the observations.  We also began looking at Biomes and Climates around the world.

Sept 22, 09 - Today we continued our exploration of ecosystemes by looking at the conditions affecting ecosystems and "les niveaux d'organisation" in ecosystems.

Sept 17, 09 - Today, students were assigned their textbooks for the year.  Students were sent home wit their textbooks and textbook contracts.  Both parents and students must sign this contract and return it to me as soon as possible.  Individually, students read about Ecosystems and generated a definition of what an ecosystem is.  We corrected the worksheet, Les interactions entre les composant biotique et abiotique.

Sept 15, 09 - Title pages now due on Monday, Sept 21, 09.  Read "Les niveaux biologiques: vue d'emsemble and Les individus, les populations et les communautes."  Went over vocabulary together.

Sept 14, 09 - Today we started the unit on Ecosystems.  Title pages due by thursday Sept 17, 09.
