Mix It Up Council & Human Relations Council

The Mix It Up Council:

• The Mix It Up Council is about accepting and respecting one another. It is about developing tolerance for people of different races, cultures, ethnic groups, and gender among other things. In this group we get to know one another and we talk about issues, which concern out school regarding diversity. On this council we make plans for action and change so that we can make a difference in our school and community.

The Human Relations Council: 

• Promoting and celebrating diversity, multicultural awareness, and tolerance within our community.
• Improving communication between various cultures, subgroups, and individuals who represent students and parents from our area and the Rowan-Salisbury education system.
• Acting as an objective intermediary and welcoming agent when new cultures of individuals arrive in our schools and community, by educating ourselves and subsequently our students on multicultural practices, sensitivities, and ethnicity's.
• Encouraging cultural competence with the Corriher-Lipe staff and ultimately the students and parents.
• Supporting the Mix It Up Council

April 5th- Human Relations Council Meeting - 4pm- Last Meeting

April 8th- Blood Drive 10:30 am-3:00 pm in the Auditorium

April 19th-Celebration -Mix It Up Council Members/HRC Memebers - 3:35- Last get together

As the Intervention Specialist, I am available for one-to-one counseling with students and parents on any issues that are preventing the student from optimal learning.Some of the at-risk situations might be;

* Conflict Resolution

* Anxiety or Depression

* Oppositional Behavior

* Grief Issues

* Parent(s) Addictions

* Divorce

* Family or Student Trauma

* Student Drug/Alcohol Use

* Self-injury behavior

* Other important concerns of tweens & teens.
