7th and 8th Grade
7th and 8th Grade students will be focusing on preparing "Seasons of Love" for Homecoming coronation. We will also begin looking at a number of pieces for our Holiday Concert. In addition to working on various repertoire students will be doing sight singing almost everyday in class. The examples will come for books, may be popular songs, or previous All-State try out samples. This will help students understand how to read music. Students will also do warm ups every day that develop the voice range, resonance and diction. 6th Grade 6th graders will be working on understanding the basics of chorus. What a rehearsal looks like, the type of sound desired and basic performance expectations. They will learn proper posture and breathing for singing. Students will be working on mainly popular and folk songs such as Over the Rainbow, Kum baya, The Water is Wide. Students will also learn the basic components of music notation. They will be having quizes that cover note names and basic rhythms. |
