Welcome to Fantastic Fourth Grade! This is the "downhill slide" to fifth grade. Unbelievable! This is a good time to make sure that needed supplies are available in class: pencils, pen, highlighter, colored pencils, and planner. Completing work on time and turning it in on time is also vital. Please encourage them to always do their best and to turn in assignments in a timely fashion for credit. Pto has revised their remaining meetings for this school year. It is as follows: Here is the amended schedule: February 20th: Dance/raffle drawing March 27th: Spring plant sale pickup April 25th: Spanish themed carnival May 7th: Art and Music Gala We have studied the causes of day/night and the seasons. Our next stop is the moon. Specifically, we will be discovering the phases of the moon. Don't forget to have your child access the OAS website at home as practice for the CRCT. Practicing math facts is vital. Students will not be able to successfully divide or solve other problems if they don't know their facts quickly. If your child is participating in the science fair, please make sure he/she has returned the form declaring their participation. We have done a mini science experiment to get ready for the science fair. Students have made a mini-backboard while conducting the experiment. The science fair will be held on February 24. A letter with some preliminary information was sent home. Participation in the science fair is voluntary. An extra credit test grade will be given for those who do participate and follow the scientific method. Our school's website now has links for the online textbooks. Check for it there if you have not already added the links to your favorites. Don't forget that uour child's science book is now online! To access the book, go to www.hspscience.com. From there you will click on the ThinkCentral icon. Once on this site, your child must log on. Enter the state, county, and school system with the pull-down arrows. The username and password are the same. It is your child's number that he uses for lunch, library, etc. Let me know if you have any problem accessing the book. NO assignments or tests will be displayed. We do not have access to everything as teachers yet. You may access the glossary and other activities from the learning site shown. Being in the castle, we are very aware of the weather. We didn't have many rain days last year. To be prepared for any rain days, a rain poncho is beneficial. Umbrellas are too awkward to carry with other items and may pose a safety hazard.
