No school Friday, April 27 and Monday, April 30th due to Spring Break


Daily Homework:

Tuesday, 5-1: Read 20 minutes; study vocabulary

Wednesday, 5-2; Read 20 minutes; study vocabulary

Test:

Thursday:  Test on Chapters 17-32 of Maniac Magee. We have been reading this novel in class.

Friday: Test on commonly misused words.

Reading:  We are reading the novel Maniac Magee in class.  We will practice using all our reading strategies that we learned through out the year. 

 English:  Students will learn about  commonly misused words (such as their, there, and they're).  Test will be Friday.

 Students have a DOL test every other Friday.  DOL is something that we do everyday.  It consist of two sentences that have grammar errors and the students use proofreading marks to correct them and then re-write them correctly.

  1. acquaintance- when you know someone, but you are not really friends

 

  1. bicker- argue over petty things

 

  1. consciousness- an alert cognitive state in which you are aware of yourself and your situation

 

  1. forlorn- marked by or showing hopelessness

 

  1. lavatory- a room or building equipped with one or more toilets

 

  1. pillbox-  a small case for holding pills

 

  1. pommel- strike, usually with the fist

 

  1. preposterous- inviting ridicule

 

  1. protrude- extend out or project

 

  1. pungent- strong and sharp

 

  1. sandlot- a vacant lot used by city boys to play games

 

  1. shenanigan- the use of tricks to deceive someone

 

  1. shriek-  sharp piercing cry

 

  1. trolley- a wheeled vehicle that runs on rails and is propelled by electricity
