 MARKETING COURSE

The Marketing Management Technology course provides instruction in selling skills, management, entrepreneurship, "starting your own business", economics, advertising, and display, and business ethics.

The students will be involved in several projects through out the course. We will also take 2 field trips during class time. There will be a small bus fee involved in the field trip.

DECA

DECA is an integral part of what we do in the marketing environment. I would strongly encourage each student to join. They will truly enjoy the experience and it will look great on their college resume!!

Career Directed Learning

Congratulation to the Juniors listed below. They have been selected to represent Oak Grove High School in the 2008-09 Career Directed Learning Internship Program. We had 49 students apply. After careful review and Teacher Recommendations, I chose more students than ever before with 30 students being accepted. Remember you must maintain employment with the same job throughout the school year unless cleared with me in advance. You will also be expected to join DECA: An Association of High School Marketing Students!~

Students may apply in the Spring of their Junior Year! As a Senior, the program will allow them to leave school early to report to a career directed job.

Students must meet eligibility requirements. No discipline problems (Minor). No excessive absences or tardies. Have a C or better over all average.

Students are graded based on their Job Performance. The employer will grade the student each 9-weeks. The student must also report to my classroom each Monday to complete a Wage and Hour Form. The two of these will determine the majority of the students grade.

If a student experiences a problem on the job, they must first discuss it with the teacher before changing work stations. 

Employer Pay Check Stubs-Due EVERY Month!!  ALL Interns MUST meet every Monday for Class! Students not attending Monday class, will receive deductions on your Grade.

 All meetings will be in Room A-129.

Competition Attire

Business Attire must be worn. Young Men should have Khaki Pants, (no pockets on leg area) Pleats and Cuffs preferred. White Dress Shirt, Red Tie, dark socks and dress shoes.

Young Ladies should have a Khaki Skirt, White Blouse, high heels, hosiery and possibly a red scarf.

TIP:  For good practice, interview yourself in the mirror, or interview with a friend or family member.

Never approach an interviewer with out a FIRM Handshake.

Ask: May I be Seated?

Make good Eye Contact with the Interviewer.

Dress Nice! First Impressions are lasting impressions!

Thank the Interviewer for their TIME, shake hands again, and say; Thank You! I Look Forward to Hearing Your Decision Soon.
