May 30, 2011 Dear Parent: Where did the school year go? It seems like it was just yesterday when teachers and students were trying to get acquainted. As we come to the close of yet another school year, we want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to be part of your child's life. Also, thank you for all the support you have given us throughout the year. Top Readers from each classroom will be recognized this Tuesday, May 31st, in the Award and Prayer Service at 9:00 a.m. in the church. Our third grade recipients are Alyssa Olvera and Eduardo Martinez. CONGRATULATIONS!!! The students have finished their memory book of poems, memories, dreams, feelings and what they want to be be when they grow up. I felt very proud of all of them, and the book is being copied and put together in a hard covered book. The Mother-Son Luau Dance is this Wednesday, June 1st, from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. at Kids' Castle. It promises to be lots of fun. Our class has collected 400 box tops one more time this year. Thank you. They are hoping to make it one more time this week. They seem very excited about this. This has definitely benefit the school and the children have enjoyed collecting box tops. This Friday, June 3rd, will be the last class day and school will be dismissed at 12 noon. Report cards will be sent home with your child. We will finish reading the novel, "Because of Winn-Dixie" this week and do reviews in sight words for spelling and parts of speech for language. In Religion we will be learning about the Ten Commandments. We hope everyone has a great summer. We also encourage you to read with your child during this vacation; it will be extremely helpful at the start of next school year. In closing, we have loved having these children in our classes and will always remember them. We hope the children will have a wonderful time in 4th grade. Once again, thank you and God bless you and your families. Sincerely, Mrs. I. Martinez
