7th Grade English 11/23 - GOALS - TO USE COMPREHENSION STRATEGIES TO UNDERSTAND TEXT, TO USE PARTS OF SPEECH TO BECOME A BETTER WRITER Students went over answers to their classwork from Friday. We discussed the importance of following directions. Then students worked on their independent reading project and conferenced with me. HW - Begin typing persuasive essay. TYPED ROUGH DRAFT DUE MONDAY AFTER THANKSGIVING BREAK. STUDENTS WILL BE DOING THE CHECKLIST IN CLASS (see attachments) 11/24 - GOALS - TO BUILD ORAL AND WRITTEN VOCABULARY BY LEARNING LATIN ROOT WORDS, TO LEARN THE SKILL OF ANTICIPATING THE OPPONENT'S ARGUMENT AND TO COUNTER IT, TO USE COMPREHENSION STRATEGIES TO UNDERSTAND TEXT Students did a vocabulary activity. Some students met with me to discuss and learn about counterarguments. All students read in their independent books. HW - Some students need to complete their counterarguments. All students need to type their rough draft.
