******************  IMPORTANT DATES/CONCERTS  *******************

If you missed the meeting with Shivelbines and you are a marching band member needing a lyre, flip-folder, white gloves, reeds, drum sticks, batons or other accessories, you should call 800-455-5216 and ask for Greg or the band rentals.  Also consider Marler's Music in Flat River and Music Maker's in Farmington

Sat. Oct. 9th AV Fall Festival   Be here 8:00 a.m. for parade/picture in the morning; bus leaves for Pilot Knob at 9:00 a.m.  We'll be back at the band room around noon or a little later. Coronation gig that evening for 1st & 2nd hour bands: MANDATORY! Be here at 6:00 p.m.

Sat. Oct. 16th Piedmont Heritage Festival Parade/Contest  Be at band room 7:45 a.m.; bus leaves at 8:00;  Parade starts at 10:00 a.m.; be home around 1:15.  This is a contest!  There may be 4 four bands there(!)

Tues. Nov. 2 All-District Band tryouts at Jackson HS; depart after school/3:30 (Parents are urged to drive as I had to stay there until 10:00 p.m. to see the results, get music, etc.) 

Sat. Nov. 20 All-District rehearsal performance:  Sikeston Field House (and your director will be performing in the Heartland Winds & Percussion concert on this day in Sikeston, too!)

Sun. Dec. 12 MS and HS Christmas Concert 3:00 (TBA for warm-up times)

Every Day during regular concert band season: LGRTR Warm-Up Pack;  STEX bk. II & III (concert season), I Recommend, Bach Chorales, Lip Benders, Bartley Warm-Up; The Routine 

Tonguing and Scales (major/minor keys 4 sharps & flats)
Dynamics and Long Tones
Sightreading (from STEX green bk. III, and sightreading folder:  concert season)

Mon - Warm-up; review routine in Macho Nacho; play through NDVM; rehearse Coronation gig set list (Handout), esp. Falling In Love modulation & repeat points

Tues -  (same as Monday above; work transitions in Grease; The Stroke; Cool Jerk)

Weds - Warm-up indoors; rehearse Grease, Falling in Love, Cool Jerk; Everybody Wants You and others as time allows

Thurs - Full Band outdoors!  Or, Inside/LGRTR Warm-up; rehearse Grease; , Walking on the Sun; New York - New York, Grease as time allows if HS meets 6th hour with 8th grade 

Fri  - No School

* 2nd Hour BAND **

Music theory concepts; rehearse pep band tunes and: 

Steve Austin Theme, Too Much Time, Jock Jams, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours, Iron Man, Enter Sandman, Soul Man, Iron Man, Ain't That a Shame

Mon - rehearse Everybody Wants You; The Stroke; Jesus is Just Allright; Learn to Fly; as time allows

Tues - (same as Monday)

Weds - rehearse Sign, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours; Smells Like Teen Spirit; Walking on the Sun; The Stroke; Everybody Wants You

Thrs  -  rehearse all Fall Festival Coronation tunes as time allows: Walking on the Sun; Jesus is Just Allright, The Stoke; Everybody Wants You; Signed, Sealed; Learn to Fly;

Mon - hand back tests; Introduction to Chpt. 2:  discuss/look at major sections; initial listening experiences

Tues - If Fall Festival set building going on, watch DVD, otherwise grouping; pre-reading rubric; music listening/discussion                                                                                                   
Weds - watch DVD, otherwise Reading rubric for Chpt. 2; more listening to Music as time allows

Thrs -  watch DVD, otherwise Chpt. 1 review; Listening experience of Chpt. 2 Music

Fri - No School


** 6th Grade Band **

Mon: turn in practice records!; rehearse pg. 9 in STEX book I; take any volunteers on #23 for week's playing test (all must take by Thursday)  * Pop Quiz warning on theory concepts at the top of pages 6 - 9...Thursday 

Tues: Note Spellers worksheet #3; review pg. 9 in STEX

Weds:  review all theory concepts in yellow at top of pages 6 - 9; review pg. 9, go on to pg. 10 (inform class #34 & 35 are next week's tests)  

Thrs:  finish playing tests; Pop Quiz written test

Fri:  No School

** 7th Grade Band **

Mon  - Outside all hour; Bb scale warm-up; work cadence, horns down & up, and playing on Nottingham and Granite Rock  

Tues - rehearse Nottingham March and Granite Rock inside for memorization; then outside marching & playing all marching music (same as Monday)

Weds - Warm-up; memorization rehearsal indoors on Nottingham March & Granite Rock; outside line-up, attention, cadence start, horns up & down; whistles for musical numbers  

Thurs - warm-up; rehearse all horn up/down/cadence start sequences; Nottingham March; and Granite Rock (same as Weds as time allows)

Fri - No School

** 8th Grade Band **

Mon - warm-up; rehearse start/stop sequences in Macho Nacho; concentrate on staying in step in NDVM

Tues -  LGRTR Warm-up Pack; rehearse Notre Dame VM (finger notes, but concentrate on staying in step!) and Macho Nacho maneuvers  

Weds - Outside LGRTR Warm-up; run through Macho Nacho & NDVM; rehearse Macho Nacho maneuvers (same as Tuesday)

Thrs - Full Band with HS Band Outside! LGRTR Warm-up; rehearse start/stop sequences and all parade-related commands, maneuvers and music

Fri  - No School
