Each teacher on the seventh grade team is responsible for establishing his/her own classroom rules and expectations.  Among the teachers there may be a slight variation in these rules, expectations, and consequences.  The rules will generally fall within the following categories of behaviors below.

Level 1

         1.  Not being prepared for class—This includes not having paper, writing utensils, homework, and required books.

         2.  Disruptive– This includes actions that distract other students such as talking, throwing things, or shouting out.

3.  Disrespectful—Behaviors such as arguing or talking back to the teacher or other adults, making fun of others, name calling, and pushing or other physical actions.

         4. Tardy—Students are expected to be in class on time.

         5.  Gum/Candy

When a student chooses these types of behaviors, he or she will be given a consequence.

If a detention is given, the teacher will attempt to contact the parent through email, phone, or detention slip.

Level 2

Academic Honesty

It is required that students do their own work.  Academic dishonesty of any kind will not be tolerated.

                        Consequences

Plagiarizing - a zero and a detention

Copying - a zero and a detention for both the person copying and the person letting them copy; this applies to all school work.

Forgery—Automatic detention

Repeat offenses will be referred to the office.

After receiving a detention, the student will need to fill out a detention slip, which must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned the next day.  If the student fails to return the signed detention slip, a second detention will be issued.

After 3 detentions have been given for the same behavior, the student will be referred to the 7th grade team.  Students who have several different offenses may also be asked to meet with the 7th grade team.

After 2 more detentions for the same category behavior, parents will be requested to come in to meet with the student and the team.

After the parent meeting and 2 more detentions for the same category behavior, the student will be referred to the office for each new incident of behavior in that category.

Students will start the next quarter with a clean slate for all level 1 offenses.  Level 2 offenses will carry on throughout the school year.
