Reading:
We are using our reading time slot this week for Social Studies.  We will be reading about landforms and different types of bodies of water.  We will have a vocabulary list this week instead of spelling words.  The vocabulary goes with our landform theme and we will have our test on Thursday, March 8.
We will read Little Grunt and the Big Egg and Mighty Dinosaurs from our reading books.  When we read these we will focus on fiction and nonfiction, comparing the two stories.
Vocabulary Words:
landform
mountain
island
river
peninsula
hill
valley
gulf
plain
lake

Math:

We are working hard with fractions.  I think most of us (if not all) have a pretty good understanding of fractions and working with parts of a whole. Encourage your child to explore different parts of wholes and parts of groups.

We need to keep working with our basic math facts.  Students should be studying these facts every day to become efficient. We will not have a math fact test this week but keep studying just the same.

Weekly Homework:
Monday Night:
Create a poster that displays at least five landforms on it.  The landforms should be colored and labeled.  This is due on Wednesday, March 7.
Landform Sheet
Read and log.
Tuesday Night:
Work on landform poster, it is due tomorrow.
Read and log.
Wednesday Night:
Study for vocabulary test.
Read and log.
Thursday:
Vocabulary test will be today.
Bring a can drink and wear tennis shoes tomorrow for the field trip.
We will be doing a lot of walking.  Watch the weather to know what
kind of jacket, coat, or sweater to wear.
Read and log.  Don't forget the vocabulary word for the week.
Friday:
Get tests, agenda, and Friday folder signed.
Read and log.

Wow! Can you believe we're already on the second half of 3rd. quarter. Students are really
working hard to conquer math facts, math topics, vocabulary and spelling words and reading
goals. We had a lot to do at the beginning of the year and we continue to chug along. Our
train is heading for 3rd. grade and most of us seem determined to stay on board. Please
remind your child to be prepared each day.
