We are 100 days smarter and 100 days bigger! Our lessons will on Monday will have the 100 theme. We will work on properties of matter this week in reading and science. Our vocabulary words for the week are... 1. matter - what all things are made of 2. solid - the only form of matter that has a shape of its own 3. liquid - a form of matter that doesn't have its own shape 4. gas - only form of matter that always fills the space inside its container 5. mass - amount of matter an object has 6. properties - a quality of something, like color or size 7. reversible - a mixture that can be changed 8. irreversible - a mixture that can't be changed back Math: We will move on to Geometry this week in math. We'll learn about plane shapes and solid figures. Math Facts: 9+9=18 18-9=9 5+9=14* *These are review facts that we have already 15-8=7* studied this week. 7+6=13* 14-8=6* 4+9=13* 9+6=15* 17-8=9* 8+5=13* Weekly Homework: Monday Night: Make a list of examples for each kind of matter. Ex: solid - table, cube,pencilWrite math facts 2 times each. Read and log. Tuesday Night: Choose an object from home and write at least five properties of it. Ex: red, circle, small Choose 2 math facts and write a subtraction problem with each. Read and log. Wednesday Night:List a few reversible mixtures. List a few irreversible mixtures. Choose 4 math facts and draw a part/part/whole picture. Read and log. Thursday: Study for vocabulary and math facts tests.Read and log. Don't forget the vocabulary word for the week. Friday: Get tests, agenda, and Friday folder signed. Read and log. As third quarter begins please remind your child that school is the place to come and learn.
