Welcome to Early Childhood Education I and II

Units in Early Childhood Education I follow a sequence designed to teach content and to make a personal connection with each learner.  Unit A focuses on the student's personal and professional preparation.
Unit B tracks the development of children from birth to age twelve, and Unit C introduces methods, techniques, and procedures used in working with children.  Finally, Unit D relates learning from prior units to the field of early childhood education, its history and career opportunities.

We will use North Rowan Elementary School as our internship learning site.  All students are established with teachers and students as interns at the elementary school level.  The program is a wonderful opportunity for students to obtain hands on work experience in this career cluster.

The students will be required to follow the Code of Conduct at all times.  The dress code is conservative!!!  If for some reason the dress code is not followed the student will not be allowed to go to the site that day.  They will complete an alternative classwork assignment.

If you need further information, please call me at 704- 636-4420 or e-mail me at mccorksc@rss.k12.nc.us.  I am available for tutoring on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday by appointment only after school.  The time is from 2:30 until 4:00 pm.  I am willing to help with planning Senior Projects, Seat time, etc. You must make an appointment!

Early Childhood II students are working hard at Hanford Dole Elementary school. This quarter they will be analyzing early childhood curricula based on developmentally appropriate practices.

The Study Questions can be found on the link below for both classes.  There you will find the objectives and review questions.  Please take time to practice!!!  Remember VoCATS are closer than you think!!!!!

In the homeroom Connections we will operate on a different format.  We are starting to empower the students to use strategies to ensure their success in the future.  The entire school will be using Larry Bell's Twelve Powerful Words, and his UNRAAVEL technique with our students.
