I am available on Tuesday afternoon to make up missed work with students who have been absent.   If you want your child to stay, you need to make an appointment and send a permission note.  You need to come to my classroom and pick your child up by 5:00.


Each day we will work on a Reading Response passage.  Using the Unraavel program, we will practice underlining, predicting, reading questions, circling, summarizing, and answering questions.  This will be our warm-up.

January 25 - February 5

Homework:  Due February 5, 2010 - "Famous Russian's Biography"

Write a poem, play, or report about a famous Russian.  Some examples:  Ivan the Great, Ivan the Terrible, Boris Godunov, Peter the Great, Catherine the Great, Alexander II, Nicholas II, Lenin, Stalin.  There are many more.

*List 5 to 10 important events in the person's life.
*Explain why this person is important in Russian history.
*Important events in the person's life with details.
*A drawing or picture of the person.

We will read aloud the book Sovietrek.  It is about two Americans on a bicycle trip across Siberia. We will create and mark a map of the trip.  We will also, keep a record of the locales visited, cultural experiences, problems, and victories.  As we go through the book we will use the textbook to analyze the importance of the physical information discussed in the book.  Such as landforms, rivers, movement, tundra, subarctic, steppes, and deserts.  We will also review and discuss the people and their lives.
