Welcome to WRHS Cabinetmaking
Richard L.Taylor
Instructor
My daily class schedule is as follows:
1st Period: Cabinetmaking I and II
2nd Period: Cabinetmaking II
3rd Period: Planning
4th Period: Cabinetmaking I
The Cabinetmaking I class is an introduction to the machinery and procedures used in cabinet and furniture construction. Emphasis is placed on accurate math skills and learning to use the equipment safely and efficiently. Students will make their own projects in the second part of the semester.
The Cabinetmaking II class is much more hands on experience and time on projects. Students are required to construct projects which include certain joinery techniques. Projects are expected to be professionally constructed and finished.
Presently all classes are in the shop, either working on personal or school related projects. Many of the first year students are producing some very nice looking items, they are encouraged to keep up the good work. All second year students should be involved in a much more detailed project of their own. Most are, some are still in the planning stage but should be on track soon.
FURNITURE SALE
Our recent furniture sale was a success. We sold a childs table and chair set, three plant stands, and a wall cabinet. All proceeds from this sale go right back into our shop expenses. We will have more for sale in the future.
