Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Guardians,

             As the year is winding down I wanted to provide an opportunity for some volunteer hours.  The students have been studying the Roman Empire and included in this unit we learned about Roman daily life including what they typically ate. I would like to have a Roman/Italian food day on the last half day of school. I would like to invite the parents to bake or buy an Italian/Roman style food to enjoy on our Roman food day. Parents will also be invited to join their student’s class that day.  Volunteer hours will be earned by donating food items and/ or coming in and enjoying the refreshments. We will also be playing some Roman trivia games that the students have enjoyed throughout the unit on Rome.

            If this event is something you are interested in being a part of please respond and let me know what you are planning to bring and if you plan to attend class with your child. We will also be in need of beverages; I would prefer bottles of water instead of soda.

            I spoke with the office and for any food item donated a total of 2 hours/ item will be earned (this includes beverages). Please write your first and last name on anything you choose to donate that day.

            If you choose to come into the classroom during your student’s period you will earn 2 additional volunteer hours.

 Periods 1, 3, and 7 will be having the Roman food day on May 23^rd.

Periods 4 & 8 will be having the Roman food day on May 24^th.

           I will be sending a follow-up email out next week to let you know the times for the half day schedules.
