Dear 5th Grade G/T Parents,

We are coming to the end of the marking period and things are cranking up.  Here are 7 important things to check out with your child to determine how well they are doing in G/T class:

1.  Can they show you their "record of grades" in their red-take-home pocket folder?

2.  Can they tell you the definitions to their 10 Greek and Latin root words? (prima donna, primer, primeval, protocol, principle, prince, protagonist, primogenitor, principality, primary) 

3.  Can they tell you what the roots "prim, prin, proto" mean?

4.  Can they tell you how we organized their G/T binder? (There are 8 divisions!)

5. Can they tell you the Measures of Central Tendency? (mean, range, mode, median, outliers, fair sample) and how they can be used to report data?

6.  Can they tell you about their group's survey and the results of that survey?

7.  Can they tell you the difference between "tone" and "mood"?  One means author's attitude and the other means the feeling a reader gets reading the author's work.
