Spelling/Vocabulary List for the week of February 13th:

Silent G sounds;  align, assign, gnash, gnat, gnarled, sign, reign, resign, gnaw, gnome, design, ensign, bologna, campaign, cologne, foreign, phlegm, poignant, benign(only 19 words)

Homework will be your choice from the spelling menu, below;

                                       Spelling Menu

Directions:  Monday through Thursday, you will choose one of the daily activities.  An assignment will be turned in each day.


Monday: Choose one of the following.

  1. Write the words 3 times each, making the vowels different colors.
  2. Type your words 5 times each on a computer.  Change the font and size.
  3. Write your words in cursive and then write the number of syllables after each word.

Tuesday:  Choose one of the following.

  1. Make 2 flash cards for each word, then play the memory game. (turn in cards)
  2. Write a paragraph or story with at least 10 words.
  3. Use Scrabble tiles to create 10 Spelling words.  Add the numbers and tell which word is worth the most points. 

Wednesday:  Choose one of the following.

  1. Write alliteration sentences for 10 Spelling words.
  2. List each word under its part of speech label.(verb, noun, adjective, other)
  3. Fill in a phonemic awareness chart for 10 spelling words.

Thursday:  Choose an activity from above that you haven’t done yet. OR Make a crossword puzzle using www.puzzlemaker.com


Each night’s homework is due the next day.

If you are absent, don’t worry about making up the homework assignment.
