Reading Homework

 ***Each night (Monday through Thursday) your child will be required to complete a reading response to a book of their choice and a sight word activity using the words of the week (listed in the planner). 

Reading Response Choices: (Choose one each night)

As you read, write your personal response in your journal. State your feelings, thoughts, reactions, and questions.

Sight Word Activity Choices

(Choose one for each night)

 If you choose an activitythat does not require paper and pencil, please list the number of the activityin the journal.

<     1.Use pipe cleaners to form your words.

2 . See how many times you can write your words in one minute.

Look for your words in the newspaper or a magazine and cut them out.

Use your favorite snack to shape your words and then eat them.

Use colored chalk to write your words on the sidewalk.

Use playdough and word mats to form your sight words.

Word Repeating:  Write each word of the week 3 times each.Put shaving cream on a mat or table and write your words in it.

  Spell your sight words out loud while clapping the letters.

10. Fold a sheet of paper in fourths.  Write your words  one time in each square anddecorate  the squares with art supplies.

11.Use index cards to write your words, then trace them with glue and sprinkleglitter, sand, or an art supply of your choice (ex. beans orpasta) on them. 

     12.  Use cooked spaghetti to form your words.

     13. Writeyour words onto yellow sticky notes and place them in different rooms aroundyour house.  Run from room to roomreading each sight word.

   14. Have your Mom or Dad write your words onyour back and see if you can figure out which word they are writing.

15. Typeyour sight words on the computer.

 16. Do any exercise while you chant your sightwords (ex. jumping   jacks, jumping, frog hops, headpats, punches in the air, hop on one foot).

     17. Make your own flash cards with your wordsand have a family member practice them with you.

     18.ABC order:  Write each word of the weekin alphabetical order.

     19.  Mix-it-Fix-it:  Write each word scrambled then unscramble theword and write it again.

    20.  Sentence Building:  Write each word of the week in a sentence.

    21.  Spelling Steps:  Write each word of the week in stairs:

    22.          RainbowWriting: Write each word of the week in crayon. Then write over it in three other colors.
