Your kids are AWESOME!!!

I have such a great couple of weeks getting to know your kids! They are truly all wonderful people! I'm so glad to have each and every one in my class! Parents, thanks for your continued support! Homework, for the most part, has been done and is getting turned in; behavior folders are being signed weekly, it's a great start to our year!

Picture day is AUGUST 31!!! Don't forget!!

 PTA is also Tuesday night.

Please remember the packet of paperwork I sent home on or before the first day of school needs to be turned in ASAP.

This year we're getting newspapers for Social Studies and/or Science, and need $11.00 for every student. If you've not turned it in yet, please do so ASAP. Thanks to the parents of LN, DG, TT & JT for being the first to do so :)

Homework will continue to be Monday through Thursday. Please keep in mind that if they miss 2 homework assignments in any week, they will receive a homework essay for the weekend. This has worked pretty well in the past, so we're keeping it up in hopes they will remember how important their responsibilities are!

These assignments may change based on how they're doing with the material, but they will have something to do for math nightly :)

Spelling

Spelling lists are also color coded by their reading book series: Group 1 is green, 4th grade is Purple and 5th grade is orange.

Students may do a different spelling choice each night (Monday through Thursday nights).

PLEASE REMEMBER

The kids will come home with a nightly READING LOG. They will need to read for a 10 minutes (at least) every night, and have you sign the log to verify they did so. I will collect these once per month.  At the end of each month, pages read will be tallied & the child with the most will get a special reward and certificate!! Besides the rewards, please help your child remember that reading is a standards requirement for every grade level!! This is very important & I appreciate your help getting the kids to meet this standard!!

Behavior Folders will go home Fridays. Thanks again, parents, for doing such a wonderful job helping make sure they are initialed and returned on Mondays!! **Remember, these are for informational purposes only-any negative behaviors are primarily handled at school. When you see the behavior log, your child has already had his/her consequence for any negative behavior!**

Graded papers will go home every other Tuesday, to be signed & returned no later than FRIDAY. Please don't remove any papers, they can go home at the end of each quarter, if requested :) Thanks! 

Homework will be written on an assignment sheet/homework log. They are responsible for having it nightly. If there is an emergency, please e-mail or send in a note, otherwise they will receive a consequence for this!
