Algebraic ThinkingWe have just started a new Unit on Introduction to Algebra. Take special attention how variables or the unknown ties into our everyday lives and our decision making. Examples: 1. For many of us the number of minutes we talk or text on our cell phones determines the amount of our bill. 2. People who are dieting may limit the amount of cookies for dessert depending on how many calories per cookie. Encourage observation and engage in conversation when you encounter algebraic thinking in your lives. We will have discussions in class about our observations. This unit will involve a little different thinking for some of us. We will use manipulatives, technology and any available resources to reinforce the concepts learned in class. I will also post videos and other tutorial resources to help. Essential Question Where do unknown values exist in real life?
