Welcome to Mrs. Sullivan's 6th-grade L.A. Page!

Hello all.

I am new to Southeast Middle School this year, and I am delighted and privileged to be a part of this wonderful school. I am looking forward to a great year of working with my students, getting to know them, and helping them move forward in their learning of Language Arts skills.

A little bit about me: I am a graduate of Florida State University (1986), so I am a longtime Seminole fan. My first degree is a B.A. in Liberal Arts/Music. I later attended U.N.C. at Charlotte to complete a graduate certificate to become Highly Qualified to teach English at the High School level. Since coming to SEMS, I have also been licensed to teach Middle School Language Arts.

I am married and live in Salisbury with my husband, our three teenage children, and our two cats. I have many interests and hobbies, which include reading, writing, gardening, cooking, fishing, playing and listening to music, and analyzing movies, to name a few. Favorite authors include John Steinbeck, Jane Austen, and J.R.R. Tolkien. I also enjoy science fiction and science in general; I hope to eventually include some science fiction works in the literature studied in my class.

Please feel free to email me if you need to contact me.

Sincerely,

 Loretta Sullivan

Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man;
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the one who thinks he can.

- Walter D. Wintle

Update: Parents and  guardians, your ongoing support is very much appreciated! If you are wondering how to help out at this time, a donation of some Kleenex to our class would be very welcome. There have been many colds this year so far, and the tissues that came at the start of the year are almost gone. Thank you!
