Welcome to Mrs. Smith's web page.  I will try to keep this page updated with school-wide happenings and daily assignments.  Please contact me at any time if you have any questions or concerns.

INFORMATION

NFMAA is reserving seats for a FREE two week Summer Camp to be held June 21-July 2, 2010.  During the Summer Camp students will work on Reading and Math to help reinforce skills learned during the school year.  The camp will run from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and lunch will be provided. The camp is open to all NFMAA students entering grades K-8.  TRANSPORTATION WILL NOT BE PROVIDED.  Child Care from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. will be provided for students attending the Summer Camp.  The fee for the Child Care is $30.00 per week. If you did not received an enrollment form from your child, please call the school at 997-2131.

The new textbook that we will be using starting with the 2010-2011 school year has been selected.  Please visit the website at www.bigideasmath.com .  It is not necessary to have a password to enter either the parent or student sections of the website.

All students are required to have a separate binder with dividers that is used only for Math class.  Students must bring their binder and planner to class every day.

NOTE:  IN ORDER FOR ANY ASSIGNMENT TO BE CONSIDERED COMPLETE, ALL WORK MUST BE SHOWN!

Parents, please check that your child is completing all assignments.   It is the second week of the quarter and many students have a failing homework grade because they are not doing their homework and bringing it to class.

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS

Date shown is the day the assignment was given.  Class meets on an every-other-day basis so, generally, an assignment is due two days after it is given.

Wed., May 5:  Complete the table on Equivalent Fractions, Decimals, and Percents.  Parents, please be sure to read the note at the top of this page regarding summer camp.

Mon, May 3:  Students will have a quiz Wed. (5-5) on solving and graphing inequalities, function tables, and graphing linear equations.

Fri, April 23: After several delays, we will finally have the Chapt. 7 test on Tuesday, April 27

Wed. April 21: Study for Chapt. 7 Test which will be on Friday, April 23.

Monday, April 19:  Practice Test p. 329

Thurs. April 15: PS 7-8, odd numbered problems only.

Tues. April 13: PS & PWP 7-7, Finding the Percent of a Number

Friday - March 19:  Students spent today working on probability activities.  Homework for this weekend is to study/review fractions and solving equations.  There will be a test on Tuesday.

Thurs. - March 11:  I used today to have students make-up and tests and/or quizzes that they have missed this quarter.  Students were also able to make-up other assignments that were missed due to absence or any other reason.  Students do have a graph art assignment that they were able to start today; it is due on Monday, March 15.

Mon. - Fri. March 1 - 5:  Students have been working on a sample FCAT test in class.  No written homework has been assigned but students are expected to be studying and reviewing for FCAT

Tues. - Fri. Jan. 19 -22:  District Assessments are this week so there won't be any homework.  All students were given grade sheets last week.  If you child has missing work, please have them complete it and turn it in before the end of the day on Friday.

Friday, Jan. 15:  Students completed the Progress Monitoring Assessment and input the data.  There is no homework this weekend.

Wednesday, Jan. 13:  Students worked on their Progress Monitoring Assessment today; as a result there is no homework tonight.

October 19:  Chapter 1 test was today.  Students do not have a written assignment.
