6 Steps to Protecting Your Children Online 1. Establish how much time your kids should spend online. 2. Keep computers in an open area in your home. 3. Know what items your children have that give them online access. (cellphone, Blackberry, iTouch.) 4. Discuss and familiarize yourself with what programs your children use on the computer. 5. Establish rules for Instant Messaging, My Space, and Facebook. Keep these posted by the computer for a reminder. 6. Use Parental Control Programs. (Cyber Patrol, Net Nanny, PC TattleTale.)
