Welcome to Mrs. Day's "toad-ally" awesome class!

Wow!  Can you believe that we are already in the 2nd semester of the school year?  We are making a lot of progress but need to continue to stay focused and motivated.  I will be sending home homework each night.  This needs to be completed in addition to reading our weekly story and reviewing sight words. 

Reading - This week we are reading The Three Snow Bears as a whole group.  We will discuss story elements, comparing and contrasting, introduce new vocabulary and work on writing skills.

We are currently working on fluency, comprehension, and decoding using Reading A to Z books in small groups. When these books are sent home, please practice with your child and return the next day in his folder. I am also sending home Dolch sight word practice packets. Each week, your child will be assessed on the list. Practice each night!

Please make sure to listen to your child read his AR book - We have set personal goals and will have an AR party if we meet our goal!

Our whole group instruction focuses on compare and contrast.  We will be reading The Little Red Hen and The Three Little Pigs.  Our vocabulary words for this unit are:

beautiful

murmured
current
huge

Math-

We are currently working on fractions and adding/subtracting double digits.  We will continue to review number identification, money (counting change and making change), time, and understanding operations.
