Students may check out 10 books at a time. An adult must accompany the child. Mount Ulla School Day at McLaughlin's Farmhouse on May 7 The annual Mount Ulla School Day at McLaughlin's Farmhouse Country Store was held on Saturday, May 7. Many thanks for all students, parents, and staff who came to shop, eat, and jump in the bouncy house. 10% of the total sales for the day will be donated to the Mount Ulla School Media Center to support end of year reading activities. We are especially grateful to Bill McLaughlin and the rest of the staff at McLaughlin's Farmhouse Country Store for their generosity to us!
Author Stephanie Greene Visited Rowan County School Children North Carolina author, Stephanie Greene, visited Rowan County on April 15 and spoke to students from the elementary schools. 19 Mount Ulla students in grades 3 - 5 had the opportunity to hear her speak. The students who heard Stephanie Greene speak include Grace Curlee, Jordan Pickens, Mayerlin Alpizar, Matthew Ramsay, Josh Corriher, Brittany Poole, Arizona Kennedy, Gabriel Romero, Gracie Morgan, Rebekah Russell, Calub Pope, Ethan Pratt, Todd Parks, Dakota Pittsley, Drake Martin, Taquavin Lark, Stephanie Jordan, Jazmine Trujillo, and Nicolas Mishue. Extreme Readers Book Club The Extreme Readers Book Club continues to meet each week in the media center during lunch. The 5th grade students participate in book studies and reading activities. We want to encourage all members of the community to bring Al cans and place them in the trailer at the front of the school. The money will go to support the media program. We are very grateful to Mr. Tommy Davis of Davis Enterprise for loaning us the trailer and for recycling our cans for us. Recycling Students and staff at Mt. Ulla School are trying to do a better job of recycling so that we can take care of our Earth. Please join us in reusing and recycling everything possible. Accelerated Reader This year, parents of second through fourth grade students are able to monitor their child’s AR progress online. A paper was sent home with each child at the beginning of the second semester, giving parents the information necessary to do this.
