For Week of February 6, 2012

Thank you so much for all your wonderful wishes and specials gifts for Catholic Schools Week.  Mrs. Estes and I love our beautiful flowers and specials journals, wonderful inspiritual book and beautiful pens.  May God Bless all of you for being so good.  Sincerely, Mrs. Chmielecki and Mrs. Estes.

Friday we will celebrate our 100th day of school.  We will be doing special activities in school.  We are looking forward to tomorrow.  Please have your child share with you.

 Religion-We reviewed what we have been learning in Chapter 15.  We also learned about John, the Apostle.  For Homework please reread pages 103-108.

Phonics-We worked on reviewing the long i sound.

Reading-We went over  our new reading words for our new story, "The Sleeping Pig."  Our new words are morning, found, shout, by, out, show, and climb.  We practiced reading these words.  We also worked on skills in our Practice Books.

Library-Enjoy your child's Library book. 

Language- Please help your child pick out a book they would like to do a Book Report on.   Please use the worksheet to tell about this book.  Book Reports are due back to school  Tuesday, February 14, 2012. 

Spelling-Our new words are  go, no, home, also, nose, woke, bone, broke, so and robe.  Here are steps to help us become better spellers.   1.  LOOK at the word.                  

2.  SAY the word.

                    3. THINK about the word.

                    4. WRITE the word.

                    5. CHECK the spelling.

   Make sure you study how to spell each word.  You may study a couple each night.  For Homework please study your words and take Practice Test.

Math-We are working on reading and writing numbers 40-59.  For Homework please do page 203-204.  We worked on understanding how many tens and how many ones.  Please go over with your child.   T.Y.

Social Studies-We will be learning how to read a Social Studies Article. 

Science-  Tomorrow we learning about our five senses.   For special reading  www.weeklyreader.com/ed1.  Our Magic word is wiseowls.

Computer-Thank you for sending in headphones.  For homework Mrs. Coombe webpage(accessed from St. Joseph School website-stjoeschooldtown.org-follow the link-students, homework, Mrs. Coombe).

Art-Children have Art Class on Wednesday. Please send your cleaned Art Shirt  in a plastic bag back to school by next Wednesday.  T.Y.

Gym- Our next Gym class is this coming Monday.

Music-We will have Music tomorrow.

Please make sure your child has five sharp pencils and two sharp red pencils everyday!  Thank you for helping them get their pencils sharpened at home.
