Intro. to Theatre

Unit 2- Characterization
Guiding Question- How do I effectively portray a character?
Enduring Understanding- Acting begins by understanding the importance of pantomiming, vocal projection and characterization. There are a variety of methods one can use to effectively portray a character.
Area of Interaction- Human Ingenuity and Environment
MYP Assessment- Preparation and presentation of a Fairytale Dramatization. Students will work in groups to write the script and assign character roles. At least 1 character in the group must be pantomimed. Students will be expcted to follow proper story structure. Students will utilize MYP Criterion D: Artistic Awareness and Personal Engagement.
Learner Profile- Risk-taker
Students will have the opportunity to approach pantomime, vocal production and characterization with courage and forethought. They will be given the chance to explore new roles, ideas and strategies.
Students have begun their Fairytale Presentation Projects. Each group has begun blocking and rehearsing their script. Groups will present on Thurs. Nov. 20th and Fri. Nov. 21st. Parents are invited to attend the Fairytale Presentations.
