How nice it is to be back. I worked at Knollwood as an ESOL teacher from 2005 - 2008. Now I am back as the School/Parent Liaison. 
Qué bueno es estar devuelta en casa. Yo trabajé en Knollwood del 2005-2008 como maestra de ESOL, es decir maestra de inglés como segunda lengua. Ahora soy la Delegada de los Padres y la Escuela.

One of my goals is to boost the parental involvement. When parents care about school, the kids do better. I have many projects in mind to bring parents to school and I hope you can help me out with them.
Uno de mis objetivos es hacer que los padres latinos se sientan a gusto viniendo a la escuela y participando en las actividades. Esta comprobado que cuando los padres participan en las acititvades de la escuela, a los hijos les va mejor en la escuela. Yo tengo muchos proyectos en mente para hacer que los padres participen, solo espero su apoyo.

In Sep, for the open house there was a show of a Hispanic dancing crew to celebrate the Hispanic Heritage Month.
En septiembre para el dia abierto hubo un show de danzas latinas para anunciar el mes de la Herencia Hispnna
)n Oct 16, we celebrated the Hispanic Heritage Month with all the kids. We had different activities to show different aspects of the Hispanic Culture. Many parents volunteered to decorate, read books in Spanish and host different events. It was a lot of work, but everybody had fun and learn about this culture.
El 16 de octubre celebramos el mes de la Herencia Hispana con un sin numero de actividades. Muchos padres colaboraron con esta celebracion.
In Nov, we started the English lessons for parents. These classes are on Mon and Wed from 9:30 - 11:00 in the room 153. The lessons will go until April 28.
En noviembre empezamos las clases de ingles para padres. Las clases son los lunes y miercoles de 9:30 -11:00 am en el salon 153. Estas clases iran hasta el 28 de abril y todos los padres estan cordialmente invitados. 
In Dec, we organized an hour show to celebrate Christmas in Latin America with 2nd grade. Kids saw The Legend of the Poinsettia performed by 7 Hispanic fifth graders and some parents. 2nd grade kids also hear some Hispanic songs and created a poinsettia craft.
En diciembre organizamos un show de una hora para celebrar la navidad al estilo latino con los alumnos de segundo grado. Tuvimos una obra de teatro (La Legenda de la For de Noche Buena) actuado por ninos hispanos de quinto grado y algunos padres del curso de ingles. Tambien se canto y todos los ninos de segundo crearon una poinsettia para llevar de recuerdo. 
In Jan, we will have an event to celebrate Black History Month.
En enero tendremos un evento para celebrar el mes de la Historia Negra.
In Feb, we will serenate you to celebrate Saint Valentine's day.
En febrero tendremos una serenata para celebrar el dia de San Valentin.
In May, we will have an event to celebrate Mother's and Teacher's days.
En mayo prepararemos un pequeno evento para celebrar el dia de la madre y del maestro.
