About the class: This course is designed to teach basic digital input skills including keying using the touch method, speech recognition, and use of handheld devices. Emphasis is on the daily use and operation of commonly used digital communication devices to develop skill with concentrated application of those skills in the production of business communication and correspondence. Communication skills are reinforced as the student’s format, compose, and proofread. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course are service learning, field trips, and job shadowing. Simulations, projects, teamwork, and FBLA leadership activities, meetings, conferences, and competitions provide opportunities for application of instructional competencies.

Evaluation and Credit A = 93 – 100 B = 85 – 92 C = 77 – 84 D = 70 – 76 F = Below 70
Test = 50% In class assignments = 35% Quizzes = 15%
End-of-Course Test = 25% of final grade
We have 8 test scheduled, each worth 100 points each.

Rules
Coach Bryson Digital Communication Systems Classroom Policy and Procedures
Ø If you are not being productive in class (i.e. talking when you are not supposed to, disrupting others from learning) you will be given two warnings and then sent to timeout. Ø If any electronic equipment is misused, the equipment will be taken away for the class period. If the equipment is being misused in a major way (i.e. broken) then Dr. Eagle will be notified and possibly a guardian. Ø No cell phones, ipods, or headphones etc. in sight, or they will be taken for the class period. If you refuse to hand over the item, then you will be wrote up and sent to timeout. Ø Always look at white board for directions when you enter the classroom, if you see none then sit quietly at computer for further directions. Ø If you are absent, you need to see me the next day you are in class to discuss any work you may have missed. Ø If you need a drink of water, to use the bathroom, or leave the room for any reason, you need to raise your hand and sit quietly until called upon. Ø Never leave your seat without asking for permission. Ø If you finish an assignment early then raise your hand and I will come to your desk for further directions. Ø The teacher dismisses the class, not the bell. Ø When we have guest in the room, do not talk to them or ask them questions. Ø When class is dismissed, log off your computer. |
